Over the years, my family raised some truly 'bad dogs!'
My grandparents had a series of under-socialized dogs that both barked excessively and readily bit family members as well as strangers.
Growing up, my parents did not neuter our male dogs and they were either being returned home from the local dog officer or they were getting into fights with other strays and being hit by cars.
Later, as my parents grew older, they moved in the other direction where the dogs were not properly potty trained, spoiled and fed from the table - ultimately becoming overweight and under-exercised. The lives of these dogs were shortened from 'too much love'.
I am airing our dirty laundry because all of these childhood experiences made me vow that when I got my own dog I would 'do things right.'
In 1987 I got my first dog and I signed up for my very first professional training class. In those days, in the first session, they measured your dog for a choke collar! I am pleased that the industry has moved almost exclusively in the direction of Positive Reinforcement training.
I fell in love with dog training and the pleasure of raising 'good dogs' and have been participating actively and growing in the industry ever since. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of working with Military Working Dogs, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Therapy Dogs, Service Dogs and State Police K9 Dogs.
I am now focusing my efforts on in-home companion animal training.
My company is based on the belief that our customers' needs are of the utmost importance. I am committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of my business is from repeat customers and referrals.
